2009 - 2010 MCHS Golf Highlights:
2009 Illinois High School Association Class A State Championship Runner-Up
The Golden Aces went to Bloomington, Illinois on the 15th of October to their 2nd straight Class A State Tournament. After a practice round on the afternoon of the Thursday the 15th, the Aces opened up on Friday, October 16 with a 311 good enough for a tie for first place with the St. Anthony Bulldog's. After a slow-start on Saturday, October 17, the Aces started to regain some strokes but fell only 6 strokes shy of the Bulldogs. Aces golfers Tucker Guisewite and Jared Paddick finished tied for 8th individually, the first top ten finish for an Aces golfer since 1969 when Tom Tinsley finished Runner-Up in the one class state tournament of that year.

The Aces will only lose Paddick from this year's team as they try to get back to Bloomington in October of 2010.
To get to the State Championship, the Golden Aces won their 2nd straight Class A Sectional on Monday, October 12 at Rend Lake Golf Course south of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The Aces defeated the Benton Rangers by 4 strokes to take home the Championship Plaque. There wasn't much suspense when the Aces won their hosted IHSA Class A Regional, the only question was by how many strokes. It was a bunch! Also, the Aces took all the individual medals and placed the top 5 individual scores. Delayed by early showers, the tournament finished just about dark. Alot of support for the Aces to host the Regional (both boys and girls) came through. At left, Superintendent Tim Buss comes out to wish Grant Williams, Tucker Guisewite and Jared Paddick good luck on the 1st tee. As part of their support, the Mt. Carmel Kiwanis Club, represented by Rod Rodriguez and the West Berwick Golf Club, represented by Jim White and Scott West, provided hamburger, chips and drinks to all participants, coaches and observers at no cost during the 2 day event!
On the porch of the Mt. Carmel Pro Shop, Julie Dawson and Athletic Secretary and Girl's Coach Karin Kelsey manned the scoring desk to help in the Class A Regional.

Coach White, in only his 5th year at the Aces Golf helm, has guided the Aces to 3 Regional Championships, 2 Sectional Championships, a Big-8 Conference Championship, 2 Newton Invitational Championships, a Jasper Invitational Championship and 2 State Championship appearances including a 7th place finish and a Runner Up finish. What's the next 5 years gonna bring?.....
A big crowd of Aces fans showed up at Rend Lake on October 12, 2009 to cheer the Aces golfers on to victory in the IHSA Class A Sectional. The Aces appreciate the support!
